Why Banned from Vegas? (Part 2)

Have you ever read a book and became nauseous?

Queasy?

In need of a few deep breathes and some fresh air?

I have and the book responsible was Ace of Hearts. I can’t recall ever having such a strong physical response to a book before.

Actually, let me explain.

I received a copy of Ace of Hearts to consider for Nia Virtual Book Tours. We have a preliminary reading process to select our featured books, once selected I read the book and interview the author.

Well, I picked up Ace of Hearts and began reading. I could not put the book down, although my stomach was flip-flopping and twisting into huge knots. I had mixed feelings about making the selection.

Who doesn’t love a story that makes you react?

When you find yourself yelling at the book. Laughing. Misty eyed, but determined to plow through the chapter.

I do. However, Ace of Hearts brought on another response.

I have to share something. Promise you won’t laugh?

I am a scaredy cat.

Don’t laugh…you promised.

I don’t watch thrillers, horror films, anything that would make you jump. I have never see most of the popular stuff and when my husband insists on seeing them, I close my eyes and stare at the popcorn for an hour and a half.

I can do without the heart palpitations, sweaty palms, and the sleepless nights.

I think I just had a moment.

Okay, well back to Ace of Hearts. From the first word through the end of the prologue, I kept telling myself this is not a good idea.

But I couldn’t stop.

As I eagerly, yet cautiously, read the book, me, myself, and I were engaged in a great debate.

My inner bookworm was in book heaven. Sparks were flying. A list of everyone I wanted to email about the book was growing by the minute.

The scaredy cat in me was furious. How dare I continue to read this book! The vivid scenes produced holographic like scenes filled with blood, bodies, and hearts was too much for me to handle.

But I couldn’t stop.

Jean Holloway has a way of making you decide whether you dare to move forward in her books. She pushes every button imaginable, and in the end I would not have it any other way.

Thus, to the original thought for this post. Why Banned from Vegas? Because many readers will undoubtedly ban Jean Holloway books. They are stimulating, graphic, erotic, adventurous, and they will test your limits for literature.
